so on kharn my impression of vampires is that they arent evil, and arent a menace to society, are basically super powered humans with but a few unusual weaknesses
Currently vampires weaknesses that I see getting played out are:
1. Weakness to sunlight
2. get burned by holy water
3. are seriously threatened by blessed or holy weapons
4. have weakness to wood weapons? (heard this mentioned, but not practiced per say)
Current strengths:
1. Immortality
2. increased strength, speed and agility, especially at night or after feeding
3. rapid healing abilities after feeding on humanoid blood.
4. Getting fed on doesnt seem to cause problems for non vampires.
5. can still maintain self control when hungry
Vampires are supposed to be an apex predator in my opinion, not enhanced humans/humanoids who are into romance. In other words, lets fire Edward Cullen from our perception of vampires, and re-hire the evil Dracula.
Here is what I suggest, in addition to the current weaknesses:
1. vampires lose self control more severely when blood starved, and WILL endanger friends by trying to feed on them at this hungry state
2. Vampire players in game can ONLY eat raw meats; raw porkchops, raw beef or raw chicken. no rotten flesh! if vampires have any other food in their inventory or have farms (even livestock farms), they Will be power gaming and face an appropriate punishment for that.
3. add a more detailed vampire hunger/feeding mechanic (Something similiar to skyrim maybe?)
4. to make vampires less sexualized, male vampires would be anatomically inadequate, if you know what i mean. vampires can still seduce their prey though..
now, I'm not trying to nerf vampires either, just make them more threatening/evil, so they should get some new abilities and strengths as well.
1. ability to use Mob disguise to turn into a bat! for RP in bat form, a vampire would have the same hit points as a minecraft bat, making it very possible for the character to get killed off if an attack hits the bat (settled by the die roll,)
or, if "killed" as a bat, the vampire reverts to whatever creature they were before becoming a vampire if getting your character killed is too much for you to handle.
this low hit point idea as a bat is so people cant powergame and turn into bats and fly away from combat easily.
2. "Blood vision" basically, any vampire in rp can use minecraft's name indicator to find people more easily and not attribute that to power-gaming
3. in addition to or alternative to blood vision, a vampire would be able to cast some kind of spell to find someone's location within a 50x50x50 area
